It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Pauline A. Sykes (nee Sojkovic), 98, of Toms River, NJ, who peacefully entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Pauline was predeceased by her long time companion, Joseph C. Ercole, her parents, Ludvik and Hermina (nee Zidek) Sojkovic, her brothers, Louis Sykes, Charles Sykes, Rudolph Sykes and Edward Sojkovic, and her sisters, Frances Stubbs and Hermine Alagona.
Pauline leaves behind her loving niece, Sally P. Alagona and her spouse, Mieke Closs. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she attended Perry High School during WW II where she excelled in secretarial studies laying the groundwork for a successful career. Pauline eventually rose to the position of Executive Secretary and served as a role model to many young women who followed in her footsteps.
Pauline will be remembered as a very special lady who never looked or acted her age, was always ready for a good time, generous of heart to all who knew her and a faithful and trusted friend. During her extraordinary lifetime she touched many lives with her wisdom, humor and love and will remain in our hearts forever.
Pauline will be cremated and a “Celebration of Life” luncheon will be held at a later date.
